About Us

All activities are supervised following national guidelines as to child: staff ratios.

Activities are provided to suit the age and stage of development. The children move between playrooms, spend time in the craft room with paint, sticking and play dough etc.

They also spend time in the garden using the outdoor toys and equipment, sand and water play etc. and paddling pool in warm sunny weather. We sometimes take the children on walks to the park, shops, castle, library and other places of interest.

Any trips further a field are dealt with as a one off and details given to parents beforehand.

English is the first language used throughout the Nursery, but they are introduced to basic Welsh through using simple phrases, singing of songs and rhymes during there time here. The pre school children also use Welsh in a more formal way as an introduction before they move on to school.

The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 lays down a legal obligation on us to consider those designated disabled or disadvantaged, using as far as possible the same criteria as for all other children. We will in their case however carry out an additional review of their individual circumstances and requirements, then assess our ability at Abacus to meet those needs. This is necessary to fulfil our prime objective, a standard of care that ensures the welfare of all the children, all the time.
